The 2nd year Geography Undergraduate module Hydroclimatology: climate and water at the University of Birmingham introduces the Earth’s climate, weather and water system. We study the processes of precipitation, air pressure, evaporation, snow and ice, (sub)surface water, and rivers, and discuss measurement of hydroclimatological variables and management floods and droughts.
In this module, students participate in interactive research-led lectures and perform a small research project on the relation between weather and water, based on weekly homework tasks. Additionally, guest lectures from colleagues at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) link research and practice. More information on the module page.
This module was led by Anne Van Loon.
