Welcome to Anne Van Loon’s drought risk & water security research group at IVM – VU Amsterdam!

Water, people & the environment are strongly connected. We investigate drought and interacting hydrological extremes in the Anthropocene, focusing on drought propagation & compound events, (cascading) impacts, risk management & adaptation, and human-water feedbacks.

Research

Our research on drought and multi-hazard interactions in the Anthropocene can be subdivided in three themes: interactions, impacts & risk, and adaptation & management. We also use a variety of methods. <these pages are under development>
