The MSc course River Environments and their Management examines the interactions between climate, hydrology, geomorphology, ecology, biogeochemistry, water and habitat quality within a river catchment context. Anne Van Loon was the programme director of this course.
Using a combination of lectures, fieldwork, tutorials, laboratory classes, group projects and an individual research-based thesis, students are provided with the necessary training and skills for a career in the successful environmental management of rivers or a career in academia.
Students on this course are involved in exciting ongoing research projects of the Physical Geography research group at the University of Birmingham and in real-life cases from our industry partners. This combination results in high student satisfaction and a 100% employability over the past years.
